Rimworld almost feels like a children's game when compared with this. Similar style (DF has spawned a legion of heirs), but with dwarfs and a classic fantasy world. I can't mention Rimworld and not say anything of this one. 'Open world' building manager/simulator with some insane detail. Panzer Corps, aka a modern Panzer General, one of the finest Turn Based Strategy games ever. An exceptional remake of the first Half-Life. A wonderful Star Trek-esque roguelike around a ship fleeing from a superior force. Tabletop Simulator, aka Any tabletop game you can think of in your hands, either to play with friends or by yourself.

Some more just by checking my Steam library.: When the Epic Mega Games bundle was on steam, I bought it, and could literally copy files from steam onto a floppy drive and use them on a real 486 after (which I totally did). The same goes for lots of old DOS games on steam and GoG. Kinda like the old eshop, except fully open to backup and use your purchase on other machines. From that perspective, Sega straight up sells 54 individual roms on Steam at $1 a pop with no strings attached, use them however and where ever you want. You could even take the rom and mod it into a Sega Genesis mini, or even play it on a hacked Analogue SG. They sell you roms with a neat package, but they don't stand in your way at all if you want to go and take that rom and use it in retro arch with shaders and all that. And that's honestly a really cool thing - Sega sells flat out roms for dirt cheap. You can take it and play it in any other genesis emulator, perhaps one with more filtering options and such. On the subject of Genesis collection on steam, when you buy a game on there, you can go to the steam folder and it's just a normal genesis rom.

Which is why Sega deleted copyright infringing stuff in the first place.īut the mod workshop has been around for like 5+ years now so it probably will never go away, and the problem certainly isn't on the users who use it download mods IMO. It's more on the people who keep uploading those things than anything else, because the genesis mod workshop is a really cool thing and sega lets it fly, and it'd be a shame if it got taken down because of stuff like that.
